I sit here to update and I am lost in so many emotions.  The last 24 hours have been insane.  Yesterday we went from “oh, isn’t labor fun” to “push in your bottom emily!!” to “your baby is going to the nicu.”  Nobody could have prepared me for this.  That being said Emily and I feel incredibly blessed to have such a wonderful and beautiful little man.  He is still in the NICU but as I walk down the hall (and he is at the END of the hall) and see the many other babies in the NICU I see how God blessed us in this.  Bradford is strong, a good weight, and down right good looking.

Our meeting with the Neonatologist gave us some more information as to what we are up against in the next couple of days.  It looks like Bradford will be in the NICU through at least Friday but there are not any major issues.  They just want to watch his breathing (he was doing a lot of grunting when he first came out) and make sure there is no infection in his little body.  The big prayer for us right now is that we can get him off the oxygen so that Emily can begin nursing Bradford.  It will definitely be another 24 hours till she can feed but the sooner the better for us.  Thank you for all of you who have been praying for us and for all of your love and support.  We have seen God be so faithful to us and already answer so many of our prayers!

We’re heading down to see him in a few minutes and will update with pictures soon.

  1. Hey guys- congratulations! Just wanted to tell you I was praying for you both, and for news of Bradford’s quick improvement. I went through the same thing with both my boys, and all but lived in the NICU for a week or so after birth. It was so incredibly frustrating I remember, just wanting to grab him and feed him. I pumped while they gave him the bottle, but just be persistent! Praying for the doctors, for little guy to get some iron lungs and come home soon, and for you two… patience and good rest!! and despite him not being home, enjoy these moments.. God is good!
