We had so much fun last weekend when our good friends, Michael and Laura, came to visit us. It was such a treat to see them and have them stay with us for a couple of days. Opal Dean enjoyed the extra snuggle time with Michael on the couch:
We had a great time walking around down town and down to the beach, eating at Mellow Mushroom, and enjoying the day together:
And then it was time to go…
And we topped off our trip with a grand adventure to Atlanta together where we got to see our sweet friends, David and Jenny, and be blessed by attending the funeral of David’s dad. It was such an impactful service as David shared how God had worked in his family through suffering and trials. I was amazed by my friends and how evident their faith is, even amidst losing a loved one. It was a great weekend, and we hope our friends come back and visit soon!
B Man and Opal: You’re telling us that we are going to have to share the attention around here…Not sure about that:
Mom and Dad: Yes, but you will have someone new to play with every day and a new friend to grow up with.
B Man: Well, I guess that sounds like fun!
We are proud to announce that there will be another baby joining our family! My due date is August 22nd, and we were able to see the little bean and it’s heartbeat on an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Emily is the chief blogger around this house but occasionally I (andy) like to make my mark on the world wide web. I feel that it is appropriate that I post a little something today for my babes birthday.
Emily is a spectacular mother, wife, and friend. Therefore, when Emily had the opportunity to comfort one of her closest friends while she grieved the loss of her father-in-law Em took it. She got in the car at 2 am this morning and rode with some good friends all the way to Dalton, GA to attend the funeral. She will catch an early morning flight tomorrow and be back in Florida by mid morning. All of this on her birthday.
I am consistently amazed by Emily’s selflessness and love for others. She is filled with compassion for others and is a true friend. She gives herself for Bradford and I daily. We were bummed not to have her here on her birthday so we had to make a little video to say hello. Bradford really wanted to sing, so we sang happy birthday together.
Happy birthday babe!
We had a great weekend with Riri and Pop and enjoyed lots of fun adventures. Here are some pictures from our time together:
We’ve had a great time celebrating B Man’s birthday this week. Wednesday was complete with lots of fun things such as B Man’s favorite meals, some Chick-Fil-A ice cream with Dad, time with his friends at our River Tots group at church (where he was paraded around the room as we sang to him), and a new toy that Dad was very excited to give him: his first set of golf clubs and golf balls. I know the funny thing about all of this is he most likely had no idea it was his birthday, but we had so much fun! We’re so thankful for him and enjoyed honoring him for the day, even if he didn’t know what was going on.
We headed straight into the weekend with a really fun visit from Riri and Pop (Grandparents). Pictures from the weekend are to come, but here are just a few from his actual birthday:
I can’t believe that this was a year ago:
And that that little baby has turned into this loud, fun, hilarious little boy:
Dear B Man,
Today you turn 1 year old! Happy Birthday! We have loved every second of this year with you, and you have taught us so much. We love you more than we ever thought possible. You have such a fun personality, are always into everything, and love to babble all the time. Some of your favorite things are eating (you have always loved food), playing peek a boo with the door in your room, wrestling on the bed with Dad, playing with Opal in the back yard, and taking baths. You just started walking everywhere a couple of weeks ago, and are saying some a couple of words now: daddy, dog, and baby. You also like to bark like Opal when you hear her barking. You have such an incredible smile that seems to be contagious because it takes over your entire face. Opal is your best friend, and we love it that you and her love each other so much.
We are so proud of all you have accomplished this year and are very excited to be celebrating your 1st birthday with you! We love you very much.
Mom and Dad
Dear B Man,
You are my best friend. Thank you for always giving me food to eat, and for sharing your toys. Mom and Dad tell me it is your birthday. Happy Birthday to you. Does that mean you will give me some cake? I hope so.
We have so much fun together. I love coming into your room in the morning and helping you get out of bed. You always are excited to see me, and it makes me feel special. You are more fun now that you are walking because we can play together, although you don’t really understand how to throw me my toys yet. That is OK. You will learn. My favorite times are riding in the car with you and singing in the back while Mom or Dad drives. Maybe one day you will ride on my back and we can make up our own songs.
Well, Happy Birthday.
Love your best friend,
After a weekend spent in the bed with what now appears to have been a mild version of the flu, I was sorting through pictures that Andy had taken with Bradford on one of their many adventures over the weekend. I am sad I missed the weekend with them, but know that they had some great bonding time going to Chick-Fil-A for breakfast, shopping for groceries, and apparently….eating dirt in the back yard with Opal!
Bella Babies and Brunertown gave us the full force Digital SLR sales pitch over our Christmas Holiday and after months of picture envy we broke down. We are proud owners of the Nikon D3100 and it is already paying dividends. Here is just a taste of things to come.
“Wresting” with Dad on the bed is fun for everybody
Didn’t know the new camera would bring out the Derek Zoolander in him. He calls this look “Blue Steel.”
